Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the team reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Questers and Schemers groups.
